What is cervical cancer?

Cervical cancer is cancer of the cervix. Cervix is the lower part of the uterus or womb and is satuated at the top of the vigina. Cervical cancer develops when abnormal cells in the lining of the cervix begin to multiply out of control and form pre-concereous lesions. If undetected, these lesions can develop into tumors and spread into the surrounding tissue

How to prevent cervical cancer?

  • Have regilar Pap-Smear
    • Your risk of developing cervical cancer can be reduced by having regular pap smear which are an early detection screening program. Always make sure you receive the result of your Pap test from your healthcare professional.
  • Vaccination
    • It is now possible to vaccinated against cervical cancer. The vaccine can prevent most cases of cervical cancer if given before a girl or woman is exposed to the virus
